COODU has worked with tribals in Coimbatore district in the sectors of Agriculture, Health, Environment and Women and Child Welfare.

In the year 2001-02, COODU has applied for and sanctioned Drought Proofing Programme in the tribal area of Peria Jambugandi in Perianaickanpalayam block at the foothills of the Western Ghats, by the Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART) functioning under the aegis of the Ministry of Rural Development. As implementing agency, COODU had facilitated hundreds of tribal farmers and labourers in the execution of following works.

Summer ploughing, farm bunding, stone bunding, check dams and vegetative barriers, percolation ponds, renovation of existing ponds, farm and cattle ponds, agro forestry and horticulture plantations and fodder crops, etc

. Under ITC-CSR initiative, development activities for improving Socio- economic status of tribes in Karamadai block had been launched in 2018-19. In Ukkaiyanur tribal village in Tholampalayam Panchayat, two Water Users Group (WUG) comprising 43 tribes, including two widows were formed. Likewise, WUAs have been formed one each in Aravakadu and Ukkapatti in Tholampalayam Panchayat and Sethumadai in Velliangadu Panchayat. Soil & Moisture conservation, water Resource Development and Afforestation activities have been taken up.
