I.TN IAMWARM - ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME

The PWD-Environmental Cell Division had, in the year 2012-13, entrusted COODU with creating awareness on Eco-Friendly Practices, Solid Waste Management, Global Warming and Water Management among officials, general public, local bodies’ representatives and farmers in Chennai and Coimbatore divisions.

Impact

• Village Panchayat Administrations have implemented system of Municipal Solid Waste Management.
• Farmers have installed drip irrigation systems to conserve water and consequently over exploitation of water has been stopped.
• Discharge of effluents and waste water into River basins have stopped, ensured by monitoring by officials.
