2015 – 16

COODU TEAM: The COODU team, comprising Agronomist Engineer and social organiser were trained on Watershed Management including Community Organisation – Institution Building and Watershed Activities by experts. WUGs: Watershed User Groups (WUG) were imparted with skills and knowledge on conservation and development measures, including water management, soil and moisture conservation measures by resource persons. SOIL TESTING: Soil testing is the basis for selection of crops to cultivate. For this, farmers were trained and soil sampling method was demonstrated by experts from KVK – Periyanaickenpalayam. DEMONSTRATION PLOTS: Cultivation of coconut was demonstrated in 5 plots called Farmers Field School

2016 – 17

FARMERS FIELD SCHOOL (FFS): Demonstration plots for cultivation of coconut and banana with mulching by using coir pith, husk, fronds and green manure were developed in fields called FFS. Four trees were thus treated and four trees were not. Nine plots with coconut and one plot with banana were demonstrated, with the participation of 300 farmers in March 2017 by expets from Gandhigram University and the TNAU.

2017 – 2018

Training on soil & moisture conservation measures, water resources development, water management etc., was imparted by experts from TNAU and KVK to farmers, in twentyeight demonstration plots.

2018 – 19

In continuation of developing demonstration plots to impart experiential training on cultivation of coconut, thirtysix (36) plots were developed in Farmers Field Schools and techniques demonstrated by experts from TNAU and KVK.
